In a riveting display of skill and determination, the No. 4 UCLA women’s golf team showcased their championship pedigree at the NCAA Las Vegas Regional, hosted at the prestigious Spanish Trail Country Club. After the conclusion of an intense second round, the Bruins find themselves in an encouraging third place, poised for a thrilling final round showdown.
Despite facing formidable competition, including the leading team, No. 9 Arkansas, UCLA exhibited resilience and prowess on the course, trailing by 14 strokes heading into the final day of play.
Leading the charge for the Bruins, Zoe Antoinette Campos delivered a spectacular performance, firing seven–under 65 in the second round. Campos’ flawless round, highlighted by seven birdies and no bogeys, propelled her into contention for the individual title, sitting just three strokes behind the leader.
Not to be outdone, Meghan Royal displayed remarkable resilience, climbing an impressive 21 spots up the leaderboard with a solid two-under 70. Royal’s stellar play, featuring five birdies, positioned her well within the competitive field.
Caroline Canales and Kate Villegas maintained steady performances, contributing to UCLA’s strong showing. Canales finds herself tied for 21st after posting a two-over score, while Villegas sits tied for 25th with a three-over total.
Natalie Vo battled through adversity, posting a two-over 74 to remain competitive amidst the challenging conditions, showcasing her unwavering determination.
As UCLA prepares for the final round, scheduled to tee off at 8:00 a.m. (PT), the team remains laser-focused on making a decisive push up the leaderboard.
