On the night of July 17, 2024, the Foo Fighters had to stop their concert early at Citi Field in Queens, New York, because of bad weather. The band, led by Dave Grohl, managed to play only 13 out of their planned 20 songs before a thunderstorm and heavy rain made it unsafe to continue.
The concert, part of the Foo Fighters’ Everything Or Nothing At All tour, started with lots of energy. Grohl warned the audience that the show might end early if the weather got worse.
As the band played Everlong, the storm got stronger, forcing them to stop the show.
In a statement on social media, the Foo Fighters said they were very disappointed but had to put safety first. “We are so disappointed that we were unable to play our full set for tonight’s fantastic crowd at Citi Field. But the safety of our fans, the crew, and everyone working in the stadium comes first, so when it was determined that there was no safe way to continue the show in this dangerous weather, we had no choice but to call it a night.”
They thanked fans for understanding and looked forward to their next show at the same place on Friday.

Fans had mixed feelings. Many were upset and took to social media to share their frustration, pointing out the high ticket prices and poor planning.
One fan on X (formerly Twitter) said, “We paid full price for half a show. It was obvious hours ago storms were going to disrupt the performance.” Another fan tweeted, “Knowing what the weather was going to be like, the planning should have been better. People pay a lot of money for those tickets. Disappointed.”
However, others felt the band did their best under the circumstances.
One fan wrote, “Dave tried to give you ‘Everlong’ before it was canceled. At least he tried. I’ve seen them nine times. ‘Everlong’ is always last. He’s or the band isn’t the bad guys.” Another fan defended the band, saying, “Dave Grohl singing ‘Everlong’ in the storm was epic. They can’t control the weather.”
Despite the problem in New York, the Foo Fighters have had a great tour so far.
Last month, they finished their UK tour with a special performance at Villa Park in Birmingham, where Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler joined them for a song. Grohl made jokes about Birmingham’s surprising beauty, comparing it to Hawaii.
They also had a fun after-party at West Ham United’s London Stadium, with famous guests like Sir Paul McCartney and Bono from U2. The Foo Fighters are known for their amazing shows and Grohl’s lively personality, keeping fans entertained worldwide.
For fans wanting to remember the tour, special Foo Fighters merchandise is available. This includes limited edition t-shirts and posters like the Everything Or Nothing At All tour 2024 Compass Tee and the Ridiculous Photo Tee. These items can be bought online and are great keepsakes for fans who were there.
Despite the weather issue, the Foo Fighters are hopeful about their next shows. They plan to return to Citi Field on July 19, 2024, hoping for better weather and a chance to perform their full set for the fans.
