First Footage of ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 and ‘Welcome to Derry’ Revealed

The Last of Us' Season 2

HBO has released a new trailer showing off many highly anticipated new and returning series. This exciting lineup for 2024 and beyond includes first-look footage from The Last of Us Season 2, the Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and The White Lotus Season 3, among others.

The second season of “The Last of Us” is eagerly awaited, and the new trailer has fans excited. Pedro Pascal returns as Joel, with Bella Ramsey as Ellie, continuing their dangerous journey through a post-apocalyptic world. This season will explore their complicated relationship and the difficult choices they face.

One of the highlights is a scene showing Joel in therapy, which is different from the game. Catherine O’Hara plays Joel’s therapist, who asks him about saving Ellie. This adds a new layer to Joel’s character, showing his psychological struggles more deeply than the video game does.

Fans of “Game of Thrones” will be excited about “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” a prequel series set in the same world. This show will explore the stories of famous knights and their adventures, capturing the epic scale and political drama that made “Game of Thrones” so popular.

The trailer also shows clips from “The White Lotus” Season 3, set in Thailand, promising more dark comedy and social satire. “Welcome to Derry,” a prequel to the “It” horror movies, will explore the origins of the creepy clown Pennywise. Additionally, “The Penguin,” a spin-off from Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” will focus on the villain’s gritty crime-filled story.

HBO is also introducing new shows. “The Franchise,” a superhero parody, will offer a funny take on the superhero genre. “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel to the “Dune” movies, will explore the origins of the powerful Bene Gesserit group, adding depth to the Dune universe.

The upcoming seasons will feature both familiar faces and new talent. Along with returning actors like Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, new cast members include Isabela Merced as Dina and Kaitlyn Dever as Abby in “The Last of Us” Season 2, and Rachel Hilson and Josh Holloway in J.J. Abrams’ drama “Duster.”
