Blake Lively Honors Britney Spears with Versace Gown at NYC Movie Premiere
Blake Lively wowed everyone when she showed up for the New York City premiere of It Ends With Us, wearing a special dress from 2002 that Britney Spears once wore. This dress, designed by Versace, was famous for its sequin flowers and butterflies.
Blake said, “It is Britney’s actual dress. It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it’s on me. I feel so lucky!”
She was clearly excited about wearing the dress.
On Instagram, she shared, “Today’s mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories. Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories.”
She wanted everyone to know how much Britney inspired her and many others.
To match her character Lily Bloom from the movie, she chose accessories that had floral themes. She wore rings from Lorraine Schwartz that matched the bright pink and pastel blue colors of the dress.
She completed her look with strappy heels and makeup that highlighted the dress’s colors, including soft pink eyeshadow and matte lipstick.
Blake attended the event with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, who wore an olive green suit with a white flower on it, and their friend Hugh Jackman.
Ryan joked, “I’m just here to make Blake look even better!” Their close friendship and support for each other were obvious on the red carpet.
After the main event, she changed into a hot pink mini dress for the after-party. This dress was part of the Barbiecore trend and came with a rose-shaped purse and pink drop earrings.
Blake laughed, “I guess I’m not done with flowers yet!”
Blake loves to dress like her characters to promote her movies. She explained, “When I did A Simple Favor, I wore men’s suits everywhere. People asked, ‘Why are you doing this?’ It’s because it grabs attention. It makes people curious about the movie. And it works!”
