Kevin Spacey Addresses Africa Trip Controversy and Denies Friendship with Jeffrey Epstein
In an interview with Piers Morgan, actor Kevin Spacey has provided new insights into his controversial 2002 trip to Africa, where he was accompanied by former President Bill Clinton and the infamous Jeffrey Epstein.
Spacey denied any friendship with Epstein and clarified his role in the humanitarian mission focused on AIDS awareness and prevention.
Spacey, 64, explained that he joined the trip at the invitation of Clinton, aiming to raise awareness and provide medication to mothers with HIV to prevent the transmission to their children.
“I said yes, absolutely,” Spacey stated, emphasizing his commitment to the cause. The mission was overshadowed by revelations from flight logs showing that Epstein, a convicted sex offender, owned the jet, known as the “Lolita Express.”
Clarifying Association with Epstein
During the interview, Spacey was clear about his limited interaction with Epstein.
“I didn’t know him. I have never spent any time with him,” Spacey asserted. He expressed discomfort upon discovering Epstein’s presence and the young girls on the flight.
“I didn’t want to be around this guy because I felt he put the president at risk,” Spacey remarked. Although he confirmed the presence of young girls on the flights, he did not specify their ages, stressing that his focus remained on the humanitarian mission.
He also addressed his encounter with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s confidante, at Buckingham Palace, where he accompanied Clinton to meet Prince Andrew.
“This Maxwell woman, she was one of many people to sit down next to me in that throne room,” he clarified, denying any personal relationship with her or Epstein.
The interview revealed Spacey’s ongoing personal struggles, including financial difficulties and legal battles. He broke down in tears, disclosing that his Baltimore home is in foreclosure and that he is millions in debt.
These financial issues have been compounded by his recent acquittal of multiple sexual offense charges in the UK, which he described as “madness” and a “stab in the back.”
Despite being acquitted of all charges, the allegations and his association with Epstein have severely impacted Spacey’s career and personal life. He maintained that his interactions with Epstein were strictly within the context of the humanitarian trip, insisting that his focus was always on the mission.
