McDonald’s Launches Nostalgic Collector’s Meal with 6 Unique Cups
McDonald’s has announced the launch of its latest promotion, the Collector’s Meal, set to hit restaurants nationwide on August 13.
This limited-time offering pairs a meal with one of six unique collectible cups designed to evoke nostalgia and celebrate beloved McDonald’s memorabilia from the past.
Available all day at participating locations, the Collector’s Meal offers two meal options. During breakfast hours, customers can choose a Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwich, hash brown, and hot coffee.
For the rest of the day, the meal includes a choice between a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac sandwich, both served with fries and a soft drink. Each meal comes with one of six exclusive collectible cups.
These cups are the centerpiece of the promotion, each featuring designs that honor iconic McDonald’s toys and memorabilia from the 1990s and early 2000s:
Barbie & Hot Wheels
McDonald’s is putting a new twist on the beloved Mattel toys, Barbie and Hot Wheels. These collectible cups will remind fans of the classic playthings that have been loved for generations.
Beanie Babies
The cups will also celebrate the Beanie Babies craze from the 1990s. Fans can look forward to designs featuring popular characters from this iconic collectible series.
Coca-Cola
McDonald’s and Coca-Cola have had a long-standing partnership. The collectible cups will highlight this relationship with classic Coca-Cola designs that many will recognize and love.
Hello Kitty & Peanuts
Combining two cherished brands, the Hello Kitty and Peanuts cups aim to embody the spirit of childhood friendships. These cups will feature familiar faces that have brought joy to many over the years.
Shrek, Jurassic Park & Minions
The collection will also include cups showcasing characters from popular blockbuster films like Shrek, Jurassic Park, and Minions. These designs pay tribute to the McDonald’s toys associated with these movies.
McDonald’s Classic
Finally, the McDonald’s Classic cups will feature nostalgic characters such as Cowpoke McNugget Buddy from 1998 and the McDonald’s Dragster from 1993. These designs are a nod to some of the most memorable McDonald’s memorabilia.
McDonald’s is also enhancing the promotion with augmented reality experiences and special events. On August 17, collectors can attend the Collector’s Club Poolside Paradise at the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles.
This event will feature limited-edition drinks, a DJ set, and more, with free admission for those who bring their Collector’s Meal cup. In New York, fans can use their cups for free rides on the Phoenix Roller Coaster at Coney Island, starting at 12 p.m. ET on the same day.
McDonald’s has a history of successful promotions that leverage nostalgia, such as the adult Happy Meals launched in October 2022, which quickly sold out and became hot commodities on online marketplaces. By reviving beloved keepsakes with the Collector’s Meal, McDonald’s aims to create a similar buzz and drive customer engagement.
Morgan Flatley, McDonald’s Global CMO, expressed the company’s intent to evoke treasured memories while creating new ones for a new generation of fans.
“We’re bringing back some of our most-loved keepsakes with a twist, giving fans a memory that they can hold in their hands,” Flatley said.
