Tyson’s Medical Issue Delays Fight with Paul: ‘Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time,’ warns Tyson
The big boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul won’t happen as planned. Tyson, the former heavyweight champ, felt sick on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. Doctors said it was because of a problem with his stomach called an ulcer.
Now, instead of fighting on July 20 like they planned, Tyson and Paul agreed to delay the match. They’ll tell us the new date on July 7.
Tyson, who’s 57 years old, says he’s getting better and will be ready to fight soon. Paul, who’s 27, says he’s still going to win when they finally fight.
“Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flare-up, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” Tyson said in a statement.
“My fans know I don’t want to face Iron Mike at anything but his best, but let there be no mistake – when he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish,” Paul stated confidently.
People were excited about this match because Tyson is a legend in boxing, and Paul is famous on the internet. But now, fans have to wait a bit longer.
This delay also showed us something interesting happening in boxing. Two rival promoters, Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn, started working together after not talking for 15 years. They’re now doing a special boxing event called “5 vs. 5,” where their boxers compete in teams. It’s a new idea that’s making people curious about what’s next in boxing.
