Ratan Tata Admitted to ICU at Mumbai Hospital Amid Critical Health Concerns
Ratan Tata, the former head of Tata Sons and one of India’s most respected business leaders, is in critical condition and is being treated in intensive care at a hospital in Mumbai.
The 86-year-old had previously shared on social media that he was undergoing routine medical tests due to his age. He assured everyone that there was no need to worry, and he was feeling positive despite his health issues. However, recent reports suggest that his condition has worsened, raising concerns among many.
He took charge of Tata Sons in 1991, and under his leadership, the company became one of the biggest and most successful business groups in the world. He guided Tata Group into new areas like telecommunications, launching Tata Teleservices in 1996, and making Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) a global IT giant when he took it public in 2004.
Although he stepped down as the chairman of Tata Sons in 2012, he continued to be closely connected with the group as chairman emeritus, an honorary title.
He held this position for Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Chemicals, and Tata Industries as well. His time at the company was marked by bold decisions, such as acquiring global brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Corus Steel, making Tata a well-known name worldwide.
Even after stepping down, he remained active, especially in philanthropy. He continued to lead Tata Trusts, which funds various social projects across India, focusing on healthcare, education, and rural development. Additionally, Tata became an important figure in India’s startup scene, investing in over 30 new businesses in sectors like e-commerce and healthcare.
Recently, he also played a key role in setting up an iPhone manufacturing unit in India. In 2024, Tata Group acquired a majority stake in an iPhone assembly plant near Bengaluru, making it the first Indian company to assemble iPhones. This was a significant achievement for both India and Tata’s legacy.
Despite his recent reassurances about his health, the news of his critical condition has worried people across the country. His presence on social media helped calm some fears initially, but with reports confirming that he remains in intensive care, concerns are growing.
The nation and the world are now hoping for his speedy recovery, recognizing that his influence has touched countless lives. His leadership and generosity continue to inspire, and many are eagerly awaiting better news about his health.
