How Did Riki Lindhome and Fred Armisen Go from Longtime Friends to Secretly Married with a Baby?
Riki Lindhome and Fred Armisen, both prominent figures in the entertainment industry, share a love story that defies conventional timelines.
The couple, who have been friends for over 15 years, surprised many when they revealed that they had secretly married two years ago and welcomed a baby boy, Keaton, just weeks after their first date.
Their journey began on the set of the Netflix series Wednesday in 2020. Despite knowing each other for over a decade, it wasn’t until they started filming together in Romania that their relationship took a romantic turn.
Lindhome, who was expecting a baby via surrogacy, initially kept her feelings to herself.
“I could tell I was having feelings, but then I was like, ‘Well, I can’t say anything because I’m about to have a baby,'” she shared.
The birth of Keaton on March 1, 2022, marked a pivotal moment. Lindhome, after several failed IVF treatments and adoption plans, had turned to surrogacy using a donated sperm and egg.
Armisen, who was filming abroad at the time, met Keaton three weeks later. Despite the unconventional start, their bond quickly deepened.
“I told him, ‘So you just tell me what your heart says,’ and he said ‘Yes,’” Lindhome recalled.
Three months later, on June 1, 2022, Lindhome and Armisen married in a courthouse ceremony.
The intimate event was kept low-key, with Lindhome wearing a white sundress from Macy’s and Armisen in a suit. Their 3-month-old son, Keaton, and a close friend were the only witnesses.
“I never wanted to get married. I am not a wedding person. It’s not for me. But this was just for us,” she explained.
Their relationship, described by Lindhome as “calm and easy,” evolved naturally.
“We were friends for so long that it just happened fast,” she said. Their connection grew stronger with time, and Armisen embraced fatherhood with enthusiasm.
The couple chose to keep their marriage private initially, informing friends and family gradually.
In the two years since their wedding, Lindhome and Armisen have celebrated their love in unique ways. They spent their first anniversary in Iceland, a trip Lindhome had always dreamed of.
“With a newborn, you just want to nest. But the trip was so fun,” she said.
Lindhome, who stars in the musical Dead Inside at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, shares her journey to motherhood and the unexpected turns her life has taken.
Her son Keaton, described as the “coolest little guy,” has brought immense joy to their lives. “I wouldn’t trade anything about him… nothing,” she said.
